Quiet Shutter

Quiet Shutter mode is an option in some professional cameras to lesson the amount of noise that the camera makes during exposure. Generally this applies to DSLRs which have to move a mirror out of the way during exposure.  In most cases, the mirror moves up, but doesn’t drop back down (which is the louder part of the process).

Cameras without mirrors usually don’t need this option.
