Red Eye is a term used to describe an unwanted effect in photography. Red eye occurs when a light (usually flash) lights up the back of a subject’s eyeball (the retina) and the blood vessels in the retina reflect back as red light.
Red eye occurs more often in dark settings when the subject’s pupils are dilated.
