AWB is an acronym for “Automatic White Balance”. This is a setting that allows the camera to correct the colour in an image based on the type of light (daylight, fluorescent, tungsten, etc). AWB is a good setting to use if you are not sure about the lighting, but custom White Balance settings will give you more consistent results.
