MLU is an acronym for “Mirror Lock Up”. This is a setting on some DSLRs which allows you press the shutter to first lock up the mirror and then take the photo with the next press of the shutter. This is done to minimalize camera shake due to the internal movement of the mirror flapping up to expose the shutter.
