Saturation

Saturation is a term used to describe the amount of colour in an image.  An image with over-saturation will have bright harsh colours, while under-saturation will result in faded colours.

Saturation is a personal preference and can be used effectively to create an effect that works well with the subject. For example, you could use over-saturation on a bright neon sign image or under-saturation on a foggy morning landscape photo.
